Incense Making

So. I have decided to make my own incense. I made my first batch today, with my makkoh, and frankinsense resin, and I had a hell of a time. I ruined several tried with too much water, but i finally managed to make two enormous cones. Little did I realise, after all of this, that you need not just a binder and an aromatic, but a base too. It's all so hard! But I am planning to stick to this as steadfastly as that damn dough stuck to my fingers! So does anyone know anything about incense making? If so, I would be thrilled if you could throw in some input.
